Here’s the secret: CK is for those who influence the travel decisions of others - think travel department managers. What AA calls “overachieving” Exec Plats must wonder why they never get it. How one becomes CK is extremely opaque, unless you buy it via AirPass - no longer an option. I used to pimp AirPass like mad at DFW CK mixers, but the 2022 “improvement” took away a lot of the flexibility the program offered. Which should be the motto of AA’s IT dept IMHO. As Albany said in King Lear: “Striving to better, oft we mar what’s well”. got their hands on it and ruined it by “improving” it. AirPass was a great program until AA’s IT dept. With the end of AirPass at AA another reason for CK has gone West. in view of declining business travel (see later note). That said: I wouldn’t be surprised to see AA either end, or, radically change the CK program, esp. I fully expected I had been kicked to the CK curb, but hope lives on……………….
